Panther Enrichment Program (PEP)

Our After School Programs offer fun and engaging activities designed to explore your student’s talents, promote self-expression, and make new friends. Through enrichment and academic classes, we provide a dynamic and nurturing environment for your student to learn and grow. Now called PEP (Panther Enrichment Program), the program will be completely run and will continue to be partly funded by the Madrona Elementary PTSA.

Please note that this makes for a very long day for the kindergarten and first grade students. Please keep this in mind when choosing classes for your student.

PARTICIPATION COST: $50/class/student or $400/student for Winter session

The Madrona PTSA, who organizes and runs the after school program, strives to provide affordable after school classes to ALL students.

Starting in the Fall the cost will be $50 per student per class. So if a student were to attend both classes on all four days (total of 8 classes per week) the total would be $400 for the Fall session. We know that this is quite a bit more than last year; however, it is still far less than similar options elsewhere. And, we are working to secure external funding to hopefully lower this cost later in the year.

Last year, the school contributed significantly to funding the program and will not be able to this coming year, so unfortunately we will need to raise fees to cover the cost of running the program. This includes paying our Director, staff, and vendors, as well as providing snacks for the students.

Importantly, we will continue to offer a discount for families who receive free and reduced lunch and we will also offer a payment plan, similar to this past year.  We are working hard to make the program affordable for all our families and will work with you to make that happen!

TO REGISTER:

Complete the attached registration form and return to Mrs. Tina (you can find her office at the end of the hall past the main office) or the Madrona main office no later than December 20.

Most classes have limited capacity. You will be contacted if a 2nd choice is necessary. We encourage proactive selection of 2nd choices on this form.

HOURS:

Monday – Thursday, session A is 2:40–3:40 and session B is 3:45–4:45

Your student must be picked up by 5pm.

Wednesday – Supervision provided from early release until beginning of Session A

DATES (TENTATIVE):

Registration Deadline: December 20, 2019

Start: January 13, 2020

There will be no programs any day that school is not in session.

End of Winter Session: April 9, 2020

TRANSPORTATION:

In an effort to keep program costs to a minimum, bus transportation will not be available. Please arrange for student pickup.

If you wish to sponsor other students’ participation, donations beyond the cost of your child are gladly accepted. All donations to support enrichment classes are tax-deductible contributions to the Madrona PTSA, a registered 501c3 organization. Donate at www.madronaptsa.org/after-school-programs/
