The PTSA's mission is to serve every student. We provide fundraising and volunteer support for our school, helping to fund numerous academic and enrichment programs and activities, as well as hosting community building events. We welcome your involvement — come join us at our next meeting or coffee hour!

We have several PTSA Co-Chair positions open for 2019-20, and all of our committees could use new energy and ideas.  Please browse this list and let us know if you or someone you know is interested in taking on a leadership role or joining a team. All are welcome, and your voice is needed!

ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT

The academic enrichment committee plans activities such as Hour of Code, the Science Fair, and Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Day.

ARTS INFUSED EDUCATION

The Arts Committee creates opportunities for students to experience dance, music, theater and visual arts at school.  Help plan our spring musical and other fun arts-related activities throughout the year.

COMMUNICATIONS

Want to help keep families informed about school activities via the website, Facebook, backpack mailers, monthly emails, lobby bulletin boards, flyers around the school, and the reader board at 33rd & Union? Join the  Communications Team!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Outreach Co-Chairs are recruiting volunteers to help plan our community-building events, including: Back to School BBQ, Multicultural Night, MLK Day March, Madrona High Five & Black History Month Assembly, and Fish Fry, as well as School Tours for prospective students and ongoing outreach to our immigrant and ELL families.

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER (FRC)

The FRC Team works with the school’s Family Support Worker to make sure our students and families have access to donated uniforms, toiletries, shelf-stable foods, and other items as needed.  Volunteers help launder and organize clothing donations and run our annual summer uniform swap at the Back to School BBQ.

FUNDRAISING

Plan fundraising for the year, scout grant-writing opportunities, sell Madrona merchandise, and manage fundraising events such as the Jogathon, Annual Ask, and Mayfair Hotdog Stand.

GREEN TEAM

The Green Team maintains our school garden, teaches environmental stewardship to students and staff, provides event support, and ensures our school continues to meet Green Schools standards.

LEGISLATIVE

Advocate for students, families, and staff at the local and state level and attend Central Seattle PTSA meetings.  Exact scope of work to be determined by Co-Chairs.

PANTHER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (PEP) Team

Madrona PTSA’s Panther Enrichment Program (PEP) Team works with the PEP Program Coordinator to develop fun and engaging after school activities for K-5 students.

PBIS TEAM (POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS & SUPPORTS)

The PBIS Team runs Panther Paw drawings (every Friday morning), Popcorn Fridays (1st Friday of each month), and other fun activities that support our students in following the Panther PATH.

RACE & EQUITY TEAM

Volunteers are needed to join school staff in an effort to reduce opportunity gaps and guide our school community through an equity lens.Exact scope of work to be determined with school staff.

ROOM PARENT PROGRAM

Sign up to become a Room Parent for the 2019-20 School Year! Room Parents assist teachers in communicating with families, scheduling classroom volunteers, planning class parties, recruiting field trip chaperones, and helping with other fun tasks such as graduations and staff appreciation potlucks.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL

Help ensure all students can get to and from school safely, with an eye toward environmental stewardship (walking, biking, car-pooling, etc.).

STAFF APPRECIATION

Sign up to help plan one of our Staff Appreciation Potluck (SAP) Luncheons (third Wednesday of each month), manage our Staff of the Month Awards, and provide general staff support as needed.
