The PTSA's mission is to serve every student. We provide fundraising and volunteer support for our school, helping to fund numerous academic and enrichment programs and activities, as well as hosting community building events. We have several PTSA Committee Co-Chair positions open for 2018-19, and all of our committees could use new energy and ideas. Please browse the lists below and let us know if you or someone you know is interested in taking on a leadership role or joining a committee. All are welcome!
Become a Co-Chair:
Looking for (2) Co-Chairs and several committee members to help plan activities such as Hour of Code (December 3-7), the Spelling Bee (February), the Science Fair (June 6) and Drop Everything and Read Day (June).
After School Enrichment
Currently recruiting (1) Co-Chair and several committee members to assist the school’s After School Program Coordinator in developing fun, engaging after school activities.
Looking for a Co-Chair and a team of 3-4 people to plan fundraising for the year, scout grant-writing opportunities, sell Madrona merchandise, and manage fundraising events such as the Jogathon (October 19), Annual Ask (November-December), Bullpup-Panther Classic (March 14), Mayfair Hotdog Stand (May 11), and Fish Fry (May 31).
Seeking (2) Co-Chairs to advocate for students, families, and staff at the local and state level and attend Central Seattle PTSA meetings. Exact scope of work to be determined by Co-Chairs.
PBIS (Postive behavior interventions & Supports)
We need (2) Co-Chairs and several team members to run weekly Panther Paw drawings, monthly Popcorn Fridays (1st Friday of each month), and other fun activities that support our students in following the Panther PATH, Madrona’s positive behavior framework.
Race & Equity Team
Two Co-Chairs and several team members are needed to join school staff in an effort to reduce opportunity gaps and guide our school community through an equity lens, honoring our roots as an historically black school located in an historically black neighborhood that is rapidly gentrifying. Exact scope of work to be determined by Co-Chairs in conjunction with school staff.
SAFE ROUTES to School
Currently recruiting a Co-Chair to help ensure all students can get to and from school safely, with an eye toward environmental stewardship (walking, biking, car-pooling, etc.).
Special Education Committee
Looking for (2) Co-Chairs to work with staff and families to ensure that students in Madrona’s Special Education programs thrive, and their parents feel supported. Exact scope of work to be determined by Co-Chairs.
Our Volunteer Coordinators are currently seeking a Room Parent Coordinator (RPC) and 12-20 Room Parents to join the Volunteer Team. The RPC will work with Volunteer Coordinators and classroom teachers to recruit, train, and manage Room Parents to organize classroom volunteers and and support classroom teachers.

Arts infused education
The Arts Committee creates opportunities for students to experience dance, music, theater and visual arts at school. Our Co-Chairs are currently seeking volunteers to help plan the Disney Musical “101 Dalmations”(Winter-Spring) and other fun arts-related activities throughout the year.
Want to help keep families informed about school activities via the website, Facebook, backpack mailers, monthly emails, lobby bulletin boards, flyers around the school, and the reader board at 33rd & Union? Join the Communications Team!
Outreach Co-Chairs are recruiting volunteers to help plan our community-building events: Multicultural Night (November 15), Madrona High Five (January 11), MLK Day March (January 21), SBA Breakfast (April TBD), and Fish Fry (May 31), as well as School Tours.
Family Resource Center (FRC)
The FRC Team works with school staff to make sure our students and families have access to donated uniforms, toiletries, shelf-stable foods, and other items as needed. Volunteers help launder and organize clothing donations and run our annual summer uniform swap at the BBQ.
Join the Green Team to help maintain our school garden, teach environmental stewardship to students and staff, and ensure our school continues to meet the Green School standards.
Sign up to help plan one of our Staff Appreciation Potluck (SAP) Luncheons (third Wednesday of each month), manage our Staff of the Month Awards, and provide general staff support as needed.
Join the Yearbook Committee to help plan, design, order, and distribute our engaging, low-cost, annual school yearbook.
